Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course explores the political views and debates that surround and inform the use, control and management of environmental resources in the United States in a foreign-language learning context. In so doing, we examine the key environmental laws, bureaucracies, cultural values, economics and ideologies underlying the environmental political process. Along the way, students critically examine the politics of current environmental issues in the United States, ranging from endangered species protection and old growth forests, to air pollution regulations and the environmental implications of global trade.
