Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to assist and support student teachers during their FAP / Fachbezogenes Praktikum with regard to observation techniques, planning tasks, classroom management issues and the evaluation of their observation and teaching experiences.
Core Content:
applying theoretical concepts in practice;
subject-specific observation techniques;
planning EFL language teaching activities and lessons
professional reflection procedures (individual and collaborative)
Method:
interactive class with student participation in small-group and all-class discussions of topics related to participants' observation and teaching experience.
The main instrument for observation, reflection and discussion is the EPOSTL - European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages - please bring your personal copy along for all sessions!

Assessment and permitted materials


Attendance of all 3 blocks is mandatory (please bear this in mind when registering!)
Active participation in class and on-line + presentation of assignments + work on EPOSTL;
20-minute debriefing session at an individually arranged date towards the end of the semester + presentation of vignette;
Presentation of complete Practicum Documentation Pack

This will facilitate the compilation of their FAP report.

Each of these courses consists of three block sessions (for dates and places - see below).
