Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Using technology to facilitate language teaching and learning is not a new approach. As technology increasingly influences our lives, it gets more and more attention by teachers and policy makers alike, though.

In this course we will have a look at the theories behind successful use of technology in the language classroom as well as hands-on examples you will develop and try out yourselves. We will touch the main areas of language work and will discover how technology might assist us in constructing meaningful learning scenarios that support our teaching.

It is evident that technology use in language teaching and learning is shaped a lot by the teachers' views on teaching and learning. Therefore we will in the end try to evaluate, on the basis of the materials reviewed, our discussions and the experience we have made, the chances and challenges of technologically supported language teaching and learning.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on continuous assessment (participation, home assignments), students' own projects, and a final written assignment of about 3,000 words.
