Aims, contents and method of the course

CLIL has been around for a while now as is increasingly gaining momentum in basically all areas of the Austrian school system.

In this course we will have a look at the theories and conceps which are essential to teach CLIL successfully in the language classroom, as well as hands-on example materials you will develop and try out yourselves. We will touch the main areas of teaching content in a foreign language, will critically reflect on CLIL's potential and its limits.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on continuous assessment (participation, home assignments), students' own projects, and a final written assignment of about 3,000 words.

* understand how technology may support language learning and teaching and where its limits are
* know how to evaluate and implement materials available on the internet into one's own teaching
* get to know a variety of different approaches through discussion, own design of materials and peer feedback
