Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will provide an overview of computer assisted language learning and technology enhanced language teaching and learning in the EFL/ESL classroom. It will deal with current research and practice issues in these fields, such as multimedia technologies, digital materials and tools, internet-based projects, gaming activities, collaborative digital tools, social networks and their potential for enhancing language teaching, particularly when practicing different language skills. Throughout the course, participants will explore and experience different technologies. Finally, they will have the opportunity to create lesson plans incorporating the use of various technologies.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance; participation in class and online discussions based on the reading of essential literature and other assignments, such as exploring and evaluating technologies. There will be individual and group assignments such as short presentations, lesson plans and a reflection paper.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Participants in this course will learn to identify and critically analyse digital media and resources, websites and other technologies for a variety of teaching contexts. This understanding of the use and integration of technology in the EFL classroom will allow them to plan their own teaching.
Examination topics
The required literature, digital material development, lesson plans and the reflection paper.
