The course aims at developing a reflective and critical understanding of English Language Teaching in students through a consideration of the guiding principles underlying professional ELT. Within each of these key principles, a selection of thematic areas will be discussed covering:

- Principles behind selecting approaches to ELT: CLT and its offshoots, ESP/genre-based teaching, the post-method era
- Principles of inclusive teaching: multilingualism in the ELT classroom, individualization and differentiation, inclusion of neurodiverse learners (dyslexia)
- Principles of technology-enhanced EFL teaching: integrating New Media in language teaching
- Principles of accountability in teaching: connections between the CEFR, educational standards, ELP & EPOSTL, iKMPLUS and the standardized MaturaA mixture of methods will be employed, including
- discussions and pair/group work in class
- short presentations by the lecturer
- brief group presentation by students.
