Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course aims at helping you improve your reading and interpretation skills. Together, we will read and analyse some of the best-known (and best-loved) texts of English literature. Each week, we will focus on a different textual aspect (such as character construction; framing, implicature and irony; the management of time and space; mediation and narrative voice, the distribution of information etc.). A short theoretical introduction at the beginning of each session will provide you with the necessary terms and concepts and will help you deal with literary texts in an informed, scholarly way.
