Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course aims at helping you improve your skills in interpreting literary texts. We will analyse well-known texts of various genres taken from the canon of English literature, repeat and brush up some basic parameters of literary theory and analyse the reading list from different angles (such as point of view and unreliable narration, framing, structure and the creation of suspense, character portrayal, rewriting and adaptation, etc.).
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance and participation in classroom discussions; oral presentation; small assignments and written exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Providing a practical toolkit for the interpretation of literary texts; revision of basic parameters of literary theory and genre analysis.
