Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course, we will discuss selections from American literature throughout the centuries, using approaches from critical theory traditions such as psychoanalytic criticism, Marxist criticism, feminism, queer studies, deconstruction, New Historicism, African American criticism, and postcolonial criticism. Providing you with a basic toolkit of theory and contexts for analyzing literary texts, the course will also familiarize students with a variety of works in American literature (poetry, novel, short story, drama) and its periodization.

Active class participation, oral presentation in groups, essay, written exam (last session)
