Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course, the mandatory "Übung" that accompanies your internship, you will be provided with support to reflect upon your practical experience during your internship. The course sheds light on some basic organisational theories and models from the field of group dynamics so that you can infer essential implications for your (future) professional life.

Based on your hands-on experience of your internship, we will cover the following theoretical issues:
o differentiation between different kinds of organisations (e.g. profit, non-profit/social-profit, social, public, expert, health…)
o different organizational structures (line, matrix, process-oriented…)
o interrelation between the "primary task" of an organisation and its "inner dynamics"
o role and function
o phases of team development
o basic concepts of group dynamics

On a personal level you will reflect upon the following issues:
o your role and position in groups
o coherence between your function during the internship and your personal values
o your areas of competence and approaches for your future professional development
o implications of the internship on your MA thesis
