Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aim of the course is to support students who are working on their MA Thesis papers. To do so, we will read and discuss your proposals, a selection from your choice of primary work(s), outlines, bibliographies, and critical or analytical writing samples. Each participant will be asked to submit materials and present work samples to the course members twice over the course of the seminar. We will address questions concerning individual projects, selection of sources, methodology, procedures for research, general MA guidelines and expectations, and academic writing style and formats.
It is recommended that you sign up for this class when you have found a supervisor and a topic for your thesis paper.

Assessment and permitted materials

- submission and presentation of project samples (50%)
- responses based on readings (30%)
- active participation (20%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance, participation, submission of samples and materials on schedule, reading and reading responses. Schedule is to be arranged when the list of participants is out.
Overall pass rate is 60%.

Examination topics

Reading list

Weekly reading of project descriptions, outlines, work samples, short selection from
primary works, and further written materials from two students, approx. 30 pages.
