Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is designed to help students who are writing their MA theses to develop a structured plan for their theses. Participants will be able to present work in progress and receive feedback on the methods and approaches with which they are planning to work. It is recommended that students attend this class who have already found a supervisor and a topic for their MA thesis.

Assessment and permitted materials

UPDATE April 20, 2021:
MA-SE revised requirements:
• active participation in forums, discussions, peer feedback and other online activities (20%)
• presentation of project (30%)
• responses to presentations and contribution to discussions (20%)
• final submission (30%): at the end of term (deadline 29 June 2020), you can choose whether you want to submit your revised project proposal or up to 10 pages of your thesis. You will be given feedback in the course of July.
Because this is a course with attendance, please make sure you keep track of discussions, forums and chats that are happening on moodle. Moodle is your new classroom, so please check in regularly. This will count towards your active participation. Each of the four items above needs to be fulfilled. Overall pass rate is 60%.
A lot depends on your computer equipment and internet connection these days, and I will factor in if you cannot participate because of connection problems (if you let me know via email, that it). Remember though to get in touch with me if you are having technical difficulty or if you have to care for children or relatives and cannot make it to "online class". Don't be shy - get in touch with me if you see a problem on the horizon!
