Introduction to quantitative methods in linguistics
Continuous assessment of course work
Labels
The aim of this course is to familiarize participants with quantitative methods in linguistics using the statistics software R. We will cover most basic statistical concepts and learn to apply a number of parametric, as well as non-parametric tests, possibly also including advanced multifactorial methods.
The course aims at both a theoretical understanding, as well as a practical application of statistical methods. The individual sessions will therefore involve a theoretical discussion of the individual tests and their practical application in the computer lab.
Reading material will be made available in the first session.
