Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this Bachelor-Seminar the old icelandic mythological poetry will be examined, which came on us through the so called Codex regius of the poetic Edda. The course will be a report and discussions. A paper (20-25 pages) has to be written.

Assessment and permitted materials

Writing a paper (20-25 pages), a report on the paper and co-operation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Qualification for the scientific treatment of a topic out of this field.

Examination topics

The lecture starts with an introduction into the field lasting several weeks and reading together two poems, followed by a short introduction into the other poems. Not later than at the end of the introduction an issue for the paper should be chosen. Subsequently meetings in small groups will take place, in which the students will receive help during their researches; an one hand through the teacher, on the other hand through discussion and exchange of ideas among one another. The completion will be two lessons reporting on the papers.
