Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

You can treat language as a system of symbols, or you can study its function in communication.
In this seminar we will discuss several topics that unite these two approaches. We will focus on Information Structure, the parts of syntax and phonology that encode whether constituents present new or old information (particularly in Dutch). Depending on the interests of participants we will also discuss turn-taking, or related topics in psycholonguistics.
(Please note that this class is held in Dutch.)
