Aims, contents and method of the course

Jahrhundertelang hatten die Samen eine Randposition innerhalb der skandinavischen Mehrheitsgesellschaften, erst im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts beginnt das Volk selbstbewusster zu werden und seine eigene Identität auch gegenüber der Majoritätsbevölkerung zu behaupten. Die LV untersucht nach kulturwissenschaftlichen Prinzipien das Zusammentreffen von Mehrheit und Minderheit und die Prozesse, die zur Veränderung und Modernisierung der samischen Identität geführt haben - bis hin zum so genannten Nationbuilding.

Behandelt werden u.a. Themen wie: Kolonialisierung des Nordens, Stereotype, samische Organisationen, Identität und Sprache, Nationbuilding und nationale Symbole, das Land Sápmi, Kultur und Literatur
