Aims, contents and method of the course

The course gives an overview of the Hungarian history from the beginnings to the end of the 17th century. The annals history is only a frame, the political, economic, social and cultural history is emphasized.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral examination on January 25, 2012, 10.30 a.m. The next examination date is in March 2012.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To launch the most typical features of the Hungarian history is the purpose of the lecture: the characteristics of the Roman culture in Pannonia, from the nomadic way of life to the settlement of Hungarians, the beginnings of Christianity, the Church as a carrier of the medieval culture, the structure of the Hungarian society in the Middle Ages, migration movements in the Carpathian-basin, the consequences of the Ottoman rule and the Habsburg politics in Eastern Europe, the causes of the economic backwardness.

Examination topics

Analytic, critical and problem-oriented methods are used to impart knowledge.
