Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The focus of the seminar lies on the medial representation and literary processing of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, which will include mainly working with texts that have been published or written at the time of the revolution itself. In particular, the leading role of the Hungarian writers within the events of the revolution and after its abolition will be analyzed and illustrated by individual case studies. Through this approach, also the different strategies of cultural policy with which the rulers have responded to the events during the revolution and especially after the defeat of the revolution become evident.
