Aims, contents and method of the course

Das Seminar thematisiert die Stereotypen, Allgemeinplätze und Topoi über den Fremden in der ungarischen Kultur, von der Türkenzeit bis um die Zeit des nation building im 19. Jhdt. Im Zentrum stehen die Fragen: Wie entsteht, verbreitet und verändert sich das Bild über den Hauptfeind eines Zeitalters. Wie werden zum Beispiel die Türken in der europäischen und ungarischen Literatur zum Blunthund, Antichrist und zur Geißel Gottes?
Da das Andere immer in Abgrenzung zum Selbst imaginiert wird, liegt der zweite Schwerpunkt der Lehrveranstaltung in der Analyse der Veränderung des Selbstbildes und des narrativen Verhältnisses von Fremdbild und Eigendarstellung in der ungarischen Literatur.

Referate und schriftliche Arbeit.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Erlernen des gezielten Umgangs mit wissenschaftlicher Literatur, Vertiefung der Fähigkeit, Texte zu analysieren.

Examination topics

Abhalten von Referaten, Diskussionen, Verfassen von schriftlichen Arbeiten.
