Die LV wird in zwei Blöcken abgehalten. Der erste Teil findet von 29. bis 30.10.2018, der zweite Teil von 13. bis 14.12.2018 statt. Dazwischen wird die Lehrveranstaltung über E-Learning abgehalten.Donnerstag, 13.12., 16:30 bis 19:00, Dissertantenzimmer: Introduction to the Typological Database of the Ugric Languages (UTDB)The database, compiled by the lecturer’s work team, contains more than 200 morphosyntactic features of four Ugric languages: Northern Mansi, Surgut Khanty, Synja Khanty, and Hungarian. The lecture will provide a detailed introduction to the usage of the database and an overview on research methods and sources used during the project.

The properties discussed in this lecture are based on the Typological Database of the Ugric Languages (UTDB).

Then, some general questions on sociolinguistics will be introduced with a brief overview on the current situation of the target languages, and then some connections between language typology and sociolinguistics will be demonstrated by the mean of a case study.
The course will be taught as a blended learning course: the lecturer will visit Vienna twice for in-person lectures, once in October and once in December (exact dates to follow). Between the two blocks of in-person teaching, students will deal with the matters at hand through an e-learning course.
