Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to the basic grammar of (Northern) Mansi (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax), a Uralic language of Western Siberia that is genealogically relatively close to Hungarian.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance, regular monitoring of oral and written performance.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ability to analyze and understand simple texts in the Mansi language.

Examination topics

The exercise course will utizile the German-language textbook "A. N. Balandins Einführung in das Mansische" (https://www.copius.eu/materials.php#mansi). Explanations, discussions, written exercises (mainly translations from Mansi)

The script can be downloaded at https://www.copius.eu/materials.php#mansi. Students can purchase printed versions if there is sufficient demand (to be discussed in the first lesson). Additional materials will be made available throughout the semester on the course's Moodle platform.
