Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course will give an overview of modern typological research and contact phenomena pertaining to Uralic languages. The course will focus on recent research on aspects of morphology and syntax in the Uralic languages and relevant neighboring languages, including negation, non-finite forms, null subjects, valency-changing operations (e.g. causatives), calques.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation during the semester and submission of a term paper at the end of the semester.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course is continuously assessed. The grade will consist of the following components:- active participation in the discussions & contributions during the semester: 40%- written term paper: 60%
Examination topics
The topic of the term paper should be discussed with the teacher at the beginning of the semester.
Reading list
Literature recommendations will be provided based on students' wishes.
