Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is an introductory course in morphology as a linguistic discipline. In the course, we will discuss various aspects of morphology and apply them with exercises. The aspects in question include word formation, inflection, morphophonology, etc. Additional emphasis is laid on the morphology of the Uralic languages.

The students will acquire knowledge about the concepts of morphology as a basis for further individual study. The exercises during the class and the homework give the students an opportunity to tackle morphological problems themselves. The course is furthermore intended to help students choose a topic for their bachelor's thesis later in the course of their studies.

For this course, basic knowledge about linguistics from the introductory courses at our department is required. This course will be held in German, and the literature is partly in English. Other language skills are not required.
