Aims, contents and method of the course

'New Atheism' is an underresearched issue. This course will try to start this research. This course is a research course with scientific analysis and discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active Participation (close reading, translations and discussion in class.), short papers on online activities of Arab atheists and agnostics during the semester, final paper.
You will have to use the literature and and material announced in the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular attendance, active participation in the discussion, working on short papers and the final paper in time and according to the rules of scientific working. Further details will be announced in the first class.
Grading: active participation 20%, short papers 20%, final paper 60%; positive: more than 50%

With these steps, a reflecting understanding of the topics to be discussed shall be demonstrated.

20% active participation (attendance, discussion)
