Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Gender discourse and gender relations in Muslim majority countries (also in connection with their minorities) and in regard to Muslim minorities in Europe.
Women's rights, gender roles and their transformation; influence and interactions caused by Islam throughout history up to the present time.

Assessment and permitted materials

in writing (questionnaire multiple choice and open questions):
15 questions, max. 4 credits for each
key: 1 - 20 credits = mark 5
21 - 30 " = " 4
31 - 40 = 3
41 - 50 = 2
51 - 60 = 1

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Ability to assess and analyze gender-relevant developments, religious positions, media reports and literary works.

Examination topics

Overview on regional developments (Handouts will be provided); discussion of historical and contemporary texts, topical reports and media contributions related to gender topics.
Encouragement for own recherche.
