Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course aims at introducing students to the political, cultural, and social history of Yemen and Oman from the 16th century down to the present.
Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The grading system is based on the final in-class presentations and the final essays. Further information will be made available at the end of the semester. The grading system is as follows:
5) 0-52: not good enough
4) 53-65: enough
3) 66-77: satisfactory
2) 78-90: good
1) 91-100: very good
If you receive a grade of 5, you will not pass the course.

Examination topics
At the end of the semester each student will give a presentation and write a paper. Each presentation will last 15 minutes and will be followed by a 5-minute period for questions. The paper should be 10-15, plus a bibliography.
Reading list
Readings for the course will consist of articles on the history of Yemen and Oman. An article about relevant topics will be posted each week on Moodle.
