Information
Aims, contents and method of the course

Assessment and permitted materials
At the end of the semester, each student will give an in-class presentation on a topic relevant to South Arabian history or culture at during any period between the 16th century CE and the present. The presentation should last no more than 20 minutes and will be followed by a 5-10 minute question-and-answer session. In addition to the presentations, each student will be required to write a 15-20 page essay on a relevant topic. Students are free to use any materials from the class that may be useful for the purpose, together with any of the items listed in the bibliographies at the end of each power-point. Additional sources may be sought from books and peer-reviewed journals, including online peer-reviewed journals.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

4--53-65: enough (reading only when you feel like it, presentation and/or paper somewhat better organized but still has inaccuracies)
3--66-77: satisfactory (keeping up with the readings but without retaining information, presentation and/or paper passable but still not that great)
2--78-90: good (keeping up with the readings, presentation and/or paper could be improved in terms of organization but otherwise okay)
1--91-100: very good (keeping up with the readings, presentation and/or paper has only minor errors, if any)
