Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course we will be reading and discussing classical vs. post-/decolonial and feminist economics texts related to cross-disciplinary topics of interest to development studies and sociology of knowledge.

They include:
property
individual and group dynamics
population and biopolitics
consumption
capabilities
efficiency
communism and utopia
colonies
world system and world language theory
commons
neoliberalism
ableism
decoloniality

Assessment and permitted materials

Group and individual presentations.
With a focus on common interaction of the course participants.
Final course paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Oral presentation, work in class, term paper (app. 10 pages on an individually chosen topic within the range of course contents)

0-5 points: 5, 6 points: 4, 7-8 points: 3, 9-10 points: 2, 11 points: 1
Presentation: max. 3 points; participation in discussions: max. 3 points; final paper: max. 5 points
