Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This is an introduction to applied statistics. Main topics of the course are (1) descriptive statistics (2) probability (3) random variables (4) inference.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students will be marked according to 3 different homeworks (20% each) and a final project (40%). Homeworks can be done in groups. The final project must be individual.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The objective of the course is for the students to acquire the foundations and skills necessary to carry out quantitative empirical research.
Examination topics
The course will be based on lectures, homeworks, and a final project.
Although the course is quantitative in nature, the mathematics needed to take part in this course do not go beyond basic algebra.
