Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The Rearch Seminar will deal with the importance and significance of islands in the process of globalization. During the past fifty years and even more so recently, islands have been the object of political strife (f. e. East China Sea, Caribbean). The first part of the Research Seminar serves to develop research designs for the seminar papers that will be written in the second part (SS 2015). To this end, issues of theory and methods will be examined, legal bases will be studied as well as historical-political trends.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, continuous development of a research design, written version of one's own research design (app. 30.000 characters incl. blanks).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Preparation of a workable research design for the seminar paper.

Examination topics

Lectures by teachers, discussions (issues of theory, methods and content).
