Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the grammar, lexicon, and morphology of the Ugaritic language. It also aims at introducing Ugaritic literature. At the end of the semester, students will have a basic reading knowledge of Ugaritic.
Assessment and permitted materials
At the end of the semester we will have our in-class final exam. This exam consists of a short Ugaritic text, which students should translate. It is allowed to use dictionaries and grammars, as well as all power-points from class. Further information will be given towards the end of the semester.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The grading system is based on the final exam and is as follows:
5) 0-52: not enough
4) 53-65: enough
3) 66-77: satisfactory
2) 78-90: good
1) 91-100: very good
Students who receive a 5 will fail the course.

Reading list
Most of the material covered in the course will be made available through the power-points, which will be posted on Moodle. Students are also encouraged, though not required, to read at least some of the literature cited in the bibliography at the end of the first power-point. Most of these readings are available in the library, or can be requested as PDFs from the instructor.
