Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In-depth understanding of the Arab World and its situatedness in transnational contexts and of necessary theoretical tools. Readings and analysis of relevant primary texts, academic secondary literature and theoretical texts.
Assessment and permitted materials
Seminar paper, oral presentation and active contribution to the reading and analysis of texts, videos etc.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Preparing a presentation, active classroom participation, submission of a seminar paper (including possible reflection) in due time, in accordance with the demands of the lecturer and the guidelines of good scientific practice; willingness and competence to work with Arabic language sources and English language research literature. To get positive grades the ability to produce results at university level is necessary. Grading: Seminar paper (incl. possible reflection) 70% , presentation 15%, participation 15%. Physical presence is obligatory - three absences will be tolerated.
