Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course aims at giving the student (especially MA students in African Studies without a solid grounding in linguistics/grammatical description and analysis) a comprehensive introduction to basic concepts used in the description of morphology and syntax, independent of any model of grammar. To better illustrate the concepts and topics introduced, there will be exercises and example analyses drawn from various languages around the world.

Class interaction will be in the form of lectures, exercises, student presentations, and computer-based electronic communications.
Reading list
There is no textbook for this course. The lecturer will provide his own notes and readings will be assigned on weekly basis. You should go through the assigned readings before coming to class.
