Aims, contents and method of the course
The course tries to further a better understanding of social and political movements in the Arab world including different theoretical approaches in the field of research on social movements.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presentation, active participation, paper; it is obligatory to be present in the first session of the course
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Preparing a presentation, active classroom participation, writing a paper; willingness and competence to work with Arabic langugage sources and English language research literature. To get positive grades the ability to produce results at university level is necessary. Grading: Seminar paper 70%, presentation 15%, participation 15%. Physical presence is obligatory - three absences will be tolerated (note: blocked seminar, i.e. 1 date consists of 2 sessions)
