Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is an introduction to the structure of an African Language: Kusaal. Discussions will touch on all grammatical aspects of the language: Phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.

Goals:
- To enable students acquire a good knowledge of the structure of an African language: Kusaal.
- To enable students identify structural differences and similarities between African languages: Kusaal and any European language(s) they speak or know.
- To enable students acquire basic knowledge about the cultural background of the speakers of Kusaal.

Method: Class interaction will be in the form of lectures, student presentations, computer-based electronic interaction

Assessment and permitted materials

100% coursework. Mid-Term Quiz: 30 % of final course mark. Term Essay: 70% of final course mark
