Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Post-development approaches fundamentally reject ‚development’ as a eurocentric construct and as the instrument of economic and cultural imperialism. The course will introduce post-development approaches as well as critiques of their ideas.

Assessment and permitted materials

Seminar paper, presentation, abstracts.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Aim of the course is a well-founded evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of different post-development approaches.

Examination topics

Discussion and comparison of primary and secondary literature, presentations of case studies.
