Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In der LV werden Grundlagen empirischer Sozialforschung vorgestellt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf qualitativer Methodologie und Methodik (Grounded Theory, qualitative Interviews, teilnehmende Beobachtung, qualitative Inhaltsanalyse), ergänzt durch Grundbegriffe quantitativer Sozialforschung (z.B. Statistik und deren Interpretation). Anhand klassischer soziologischer Studien und Beispielen aus der Entwicklungsforschung werden Studierende in den Forschungsablauf von der Planung bis zur Datenauswertung eingeführt.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Die Möglichkeiten und Probleme verschiedener Methoden sollen aufgezeigt und diskutiert werden. Darüber hinaus werden die dahinter liegenden methodologischen Grundannahmen reflektiert. Durch praktische Übungen werden einige der vorgestellten Methoden (qualitative Interviews, teilnehmende Beobachtung) im Rahmen des Kurses angewandt.
Examination topics
Vor jeder Kurseinheit sind Basistexte verpflichtend zu lesen, dazu Fragen schriftlich zu beantworten oder Übungen durchzuführen. In den LV-Einheiten werden ergänzende Inhalte durch Studierende vorgestellt und diskutiert.
