Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course provides an introduction to political science from an international development perspective. Apart from an introduction to basic concepts in political science, the course discusses key issues in debates on politics in non-western countries and global politics more generally within comparative politics, international relations, sociology of power and political systems analysis (notably on statehood, democracy and global governance). The course is rounded up by a number of case studies of gender politics, environmental and migration policy and themes such as conflict/war and humanitarianism.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will be introduced to a political science perspective on global politics and politics in the South. The main aim is to offer students a basic understanding of different theoretical perspectives on politics.
