Syntax and morphology form a core part of Linguistics, which is the science that studies the nature, structure, and functions of language. To stay in touch with this core and fundamental aspect of the science of language, one must understand the multiplicity of concepts developed over the years. In this course, students will be taken through an overview of the basic issues that underlie syntax and morphology, with an emphasis of many African language data. The goal is to equip students with one of the fundamental tools for grammatical analysis. The course provides a grounding in grammatical concepts useful for further study in grammatical theory, typology and language teaching. Methods: Lectures, research project, student presentations, group discussions
