Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course discusses the economic mechanisms through which past events affect the present in the context of development. Economic theory will be accompanied by a discussion of issues from a historical perspective.
Prerequisites: completed first part of the curriculum, command of English (at least good reading skills)

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will be evaluated on the basis of their presentations during the course and written homeworks to be handed in regularly.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will develop analytical skills to understand economic mechanisms and apply them to the understanding of history. They will also learn to assess the importance of these mechanisms in the light of historical evidence.

Examination topics

There will be a mix of lectures by Cuñat and Grandner, and presentations/discussion by the students of the material covered in the course.
