Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The category of gender is analyzed along the following lines:
"Liberty" and politics: civil society, Global Governance, "new bourgeoise," migration, and human rights;
"Liberty" and economy: unpaid labor (care/reproduction labor), work migration, sex work, colonialization through free area trade, precariousness, "Me Inc.";
"Freedom" and the media: "social" marketing, "Berlusconismo" and censorship, new media, advertisements, gender stereotypes in film;
"Liberty," freedom, and society: family structures, liberalized education "market," technologies of reproduction, technology and the discourse of risk.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students should become aware of the genderedness of all fields that undergo the current process of liberalization
