Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Reading selections of the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh from the cuneiform

Assessment and permitted materials

We will be reading the text together in class every week, so students are expected to prepare their transliteration, translation, and analysis at home so as to participate actively during class time.
There will be a midterm assessment covering what we have done in class by that point.

Students will also be expected to give a short presentation on a relevant topic, which either the student will choose in consultation with the instructor or will select from a list of suggestions that the instructor provides.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The final grade comprises: 70% attendance and participation in class meetings, 10% midterm assessment, 20% oral presentation. Students are permitted 3 absences before it begins to negatively affect the attendance grade.

Examination topics

Materials will be posted on Moodle
