Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Basic Structures and Basic Vocabulary of the Baghdad Dialect.
Desired language competence: A1 - A2 (European reference framework)
The contents of the course are conveyed through presentations on the grammar of the Baghdad dialect as well as additional teaching materials such as texts, songs, and videos. There will also be group work to facilitate the application of what has been learned in a practical way

Assessment and permitted materials

The performance assessment consists of three parts:

1) Compulsory attendance (you can only be absent x6 without excuse) and active participation in both parts of the course (theory and practice)
2) Submission of assignments and completion of homework
3) Passing the written and oral exam at the end of the semester

The material of the exams will be discussed during the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Mastering of the relevant transcription system as well as knowledge of the basic phonological, morphological, and syntactic structures of the Arabic dialect of Baghdad. Vocabulary for everyday communication and basic active skills in listening and speaking.

The services are used in the following ratio for the assessment:

1- Compulsory attendance (you can only be absent x6 without excuse) and active participation in both parts of the course (theory and practice) 30%
2- Submission of assignments and completion of homework 30%
3- Passing the final written and oral exam at the end of the semester 40%

A total of at least 60% must be achieved in order to successfully complete the course.

Grading system:
100 – 91 = Very good
79-90 = Good
65 - 78 = Satisfactory
51 - 64 = enough
< 51 Not enough

Material of the two final exams: Lessons 1-7
Explanation of grammar and accompanying exercises.

The materials will be made available on Moodle.

Material taught in the exercise books and additional content such as oral exercises, dialogues, etc.

1) Written final exam:
- Explanation of grammar and accompanying exercises..
- The exam includes grammatical questions. , translations, gap texts, etc.

Grading system-written exam:
100 – 91 = very good
79-90 = Good
65 - 78 = Satisfactory
51 - 64 = enough
< 51 Not enough

2) Oral final exam:
- dialogues.
- Questions about vocabulary and sentence structures.
- Reading
- Translating sentences.
