Aims, contents and method of the course

In the second semester, the acquired basic grammatical knowledge is expanded and consolidated. In addition to verbal morphology, the focus will be particularly on syntax and lexis of the modern Persian language. In addition to a basic theoretical understanding of morphology and syntax, the course, as part of a two-semester basic course, should enable students to comprehend modern New Persian texts and to master simple communicative situations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance (2 missed units are tolerated) and participation are a prerequisite for the successful completion of the course. At the end of the semester, a supplementary final test (written + oral) will take place.

The 1st date of the final test (written + oral) takes place in the last unit of the course. The end-of-semester test will be held either online or on-site, depending on the situation.

No aids (dictionaries, transcripts, grammars, etc.) are allowed in the final test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Prerequisites for the attendance of this course is the completion of Persian I. Students are expected to have good German and English language skills and a basic interest in linguistic issues.

For the evaluation of the final test the following applies: 1>=90%; 2>=77,5; 3>=65%; 4>=50%.
For the overall assessment: final test=50%; cooperation, attendance=50%.

Examination topics

The examination will include all practical and theoretical contents of the course.
