Aims, contents and method of the course

Reading and translating Turkish literary, scientific and/or journalistic texts into German, intermediate level.
The texts have to be prepared at home, using a dictionary and will be discussed in class. A focus will be on rendering the syntax adequately.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance (being absent three times is tolerated). Thorough preparation of texts, active participation in class. Being unprepared equals being absent. Two written tests, including the use of a dictionary.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

attendance and participation: 50%; 25% per test
Grading of the tests: from a total of 100 points two points will be subtracted per mistake, and one point for minor slips.
Grades: 0-52 nicht genügend/53-65 genügend/66-77 befriedigend/78-90 gut/91-100 sehr gut

Examination topics

The aim of this course is to be able to translate texts on a higher level, which corresponds to the level of the original Turkish texts.
The texts have to be prepared at home and will be translated in class, including a discussion of problems, variants etc.
