Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course builds on Amharic I and II.
Aim: elementary language use at A2.1 level
Contents: Gerundive, relative constructions, subordination, etc., vocabulary and conversation training
Methods: In addition to a brief introduction to the relevant grammar, the course is very interactive, with lots of speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises.

Assessment and permitted materials

At the end of the semster there is a take home exam, which can be elaborated with the support of dictionaries and further material which will be provided in class.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Passing the Take Home Exam is the minimum requirement for passing this course. There is no compulsory attendance.
A total of 30 points can be achieved: -15.25 points: Unsatisfactory, 15.5 - 19 points: Sufficient, 19.25 - 22.75: Satisfactory, 23 - 26.5: Good, 26.75 - 30 Very Good

Examination topics

The examination will cover lessons 20-24 from the textbook Sälam! 1, followed by lessons from Sälam! 2 (as yet unpublished, will be made available to students on moodle).
