The last day of class of the semester (i.e. January 29, 2021) is reserved for lesson. On this day I will give you a take-home final exam. The exam is open-book, so you can use all material from the course (including dictionaries, grammars, etc.). The dealine for the exam is Febuary 5.

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is an introduction to Ugaritic. The lessons treat the grammar and basic vocabulary. Once we begin to read texts, we will discuss cultural matters as well.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation and timely completion of all homework are essential for a good grade.

1 91-100 (very good)
2 78-90 (good)
3 66-77 (satisfactory)
4 53-65 (good)
5 0-52 (not enough)
The students who receive 5 as a grade do not pass the Course.

Examination topics

The final exam consists of a Ugaritic text for you to translate.

Reading list

The basic grammar for our course is Josef Tropper's "Ugaritisch: kurzgefasste Grammatik mit Übungstexten und Glossar". I will upload PDFs of all materials from the book on Moodle. Supplementary materials will similarly be posted on Moodle.
