Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the seminar is to present the most important research topics and methods of Arabic linugistics and philology. An additional focus is on linguistic terminology and the correct use of sources transmitted in manuscript form. Among the addressed themes are, for example, Arabic national grammar, historical linguistics (esp. etymology), research on lanugage contact, lexikology, and principles of critical editions, textual criticism and editing, working and commenting on texts transmitted in manuscript form (literary texts and documents).
