Aims, contents and method of the course

Arabic Calligraphy, introduction into Ottoman diplomatic, overview of Ottoman diplomatic formulas, reading of a selection of 15th-century Ottoman documents.

Assessment and permitted materials

regular attendance required (absence in three units tolerated), preparation of exercises, active participation in class. Attending class without having prepared exercises equals being absent.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

33,3% attendance and active participation in class; 33,3% papers read in class; 33,3% written final test (10 questions with 10 points each; points and marks to be attained: 0-52 nicht genügend/53-65 genügend/66-77 befriedigend/78-90 gut/91-100 sehr gut

Examination topics

explanations given in class based on the textbook; students' papers read in class along with comments; the dccuments read in class.
