Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Knowledge of lexical items that entered Arabic from other languages or via calques. Ways of borrowing, lexical domains of loanwords, source languages, cultural contacts, methods of etymological research.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, discussion and presentations of scientific publications on the topic.
Research paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Not more than 3 absences. Students who miss more than 3 classes will not be evaluated.
Punctuality is expected and required from students. Delays superior to 10 minutes will be considered 1/2 absence.
Active participation & weekly assignments: 30%
Presentations: 20%
Final research paper: 50%

60% of the aforementioned requirements must be met for the student to complete the course successfully.

No exam.
